More consumers purchase gift cards than we think – especially with Christmas on the way. Take full advantage of this by offering customers an incentive when they buy a gift card from your salon. Either give them a percentage off their next service or match them with a gift card of a certain monetary value for every gift card they purchase.
If you'd like your clients to spend more, it is suggested that you give extra instead of offering a discount on what they pay. For example, clients get an extra 20% when topping up their membership accounts (instead of making them to pay 20% less).
But if you think discount can be tempting for clients, do it this way:
The discount increases over three visits — for instance, 20% off the first appointment, 30% off the second, and 30% plus a free retail product on the third visit. A “bring-your-friend” promotion could also come into play, allowing you to provide a more generous discount in return for booking two services.
New look
If you’ve recently introduced a new service or rolled out a new product in your salon, Black Friday is the perfect opportunity to tell customers about something new whilst offering a discount to encourage a sale at the same time.

Giveaway & Lucky draw
For all walk-in clients, you can offer them a lucky draw: when they draw some certain numbers, they can get certain discounts on their purchase on a service or product.
Give away free gift cards. Come up with some 10-dollar try-out gift cards so that people are enticed to use it and buy some service.
Make your clients join members
On Black Friday, allow your members to pre-pay for a discounted service or multiple discounted services that they can redeem at another time.
Reward your clients with upgrades on basic treatments and packages to more premium ones. Get creative with these and hook your clients into more experiences they’ll enjoy and want to come back for again and again. Create a “Use it when you want it” pass and allow people to claim these upgrades when they wish.
Decoration matters!
Decorate your shopfront to attract people to come in the shop. Whatever free products or discount you are offering, make it look bold and obvious for bypassers to see! You can even exaggerate a bit so that people can walk in.
Then you can convince them to buy your service when they are inside to see all the perfect hair products you offer. People don't know they want them until they actually see them. Put up posters with enticing sayings like "Life is short. You might as well live it with really great hair."
Social media prevails
Black Friday’s intensive Online marketing and spread of words: reaching a larger audience locally (get listed by the local deal-looking websites or local influencers).
You can always ask your satisfied clients to post a glamorous looking photo on their social media account. Especially when the clients come inside and use their free vouchers, you can kindly ask them to post a TikTok video or Instagram Reels or tweet with at least 3 photos, whichever they have the largest following.
