Hairlaya recently has got gorgeous babes seeking help when choosing hair extension length. If you are new to hair extensions, it might be hard to decide the hair length. However, it's essential when buying extensions to determine what length to choose.

You want the result to be fabulous. You can be looking to add length, volume, or both before you decide on an extension length. Probably a good length for you gives you a lot of options. It gives you a lot of length and fullness, and it's just such a gorgeous perfect length that you will love.

The extension length should not be over two times the length of your natural hair for better blending results and less weight pressure for your natural hair. When choosing hair extensions to increase the length of your hair, always stay within particular inches of your natural hair length for the most realistic blend.

Measure your own hair's length

It would be best if you kept in mind that we are all different heights. So when buying extensions, you really need to measure your own hair first and then calculate the length you need. It is best to use a measuring tape to measure precisely where the extensions will fall on you.

Measure your own hair with a tape measure. This works better just because you can go pretty long with it. Or you can use a ruler; just put the end of the tape measure the ruler up to your earlobe. Right below your earlobe and then measure down to the end of your hair and wherever that ends up is going to give you a good indicator of what length you should get.

Measure your own hair's length

Where will the extension fall on your back?

  • 14 Inch Hair is great for people who just want to add volume or for people who have a short haircut, and it will blend in very nicely. Most people can wear this length, which looks pretty natural.
  • 18 or 20 Inch Hair:  If you want the length of hair extensions to reach the middle of your back or shorter, we recommend ordering the 18-inch extensions.
  • 22 Inch Hair: If you want the length of hair extensions to reach past the middle of your back or longer, we recommend ordering the 22-inch extensions.

Take trimming or styling of your hair into consideration.

Purchase a length that is slightly longer than what you need. This way, if you need to trim the ends a little bit, you can always bring your new extensions into your hair salon and get them cut and styled into your own hair. This way, you will achieve the most natural look. If you are looking to curl your hair with a curling wand or a curling iron, it's best to purchase extensions that are at least 2 inches longer than your desired result. Just remember to choose a length that you're comfortable with. Extensions are great for adding a subtle change, a dramatic change, or everything in between.

One more thing

Also, take into consideration if you wear your hair curly. You want to measure it without pulling it straight because that's kind of where your hair is going to be. But it's a good idea to get an idea of what it would be at both. So if your hair is curled, it would probably cut off a few inches of where it hit. It would probably be if your hair was 16 inches and you curled it; it's going to be at like 15 or 14 inches. So consider that when you're ordering your length. If you want to add some actual length, choose the longer length when you are stuck between two lengths.

So it just gives you a good idea of how to measure your hair and figure out which length is going to be the best for you. If you have any questions, please call us or email us. We're happy to help you. Just give us a shout!
